Sol Cuenca and Matet Cavite won Bowler of the Week honors as their respective teams, Ekis-3 and Fed Extreme, won against Lance & 3rdy and Micah’s Pride during the fourth session in the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League 12th Conference at the Bowling City here.
On the outset Cuenca played support role to Alex Flora and Malou Gime who led Ekis-3 with 224 and 223 in the initial 1245-1103 success over Lance & 3rdy. The only lefty on the opposing teams, Cuenca then took over the lead role with 255 which Ruben Griño and Flora supported with 225 and 211 to threaten rivals with a shutout on well-fought 1249-1153 Game 2.
With Gime regaining production and Tommy de Castro preserving consistency, Cuenca fixed his track to supremely propel Ekis-3 with 257 scratch that mainly spelled shutout of the former league-leader at 3707-3305 including the 1213-1149 endgame.
Cuenca shot a series with handicap of 733 on scratch of 676 from games of 183, 235 and 257. Supporting well were Gime with 646 followed by De Castro at 598, and Griño (567), while Evelyn Santoc and Med Ramos led Lance & 3rdy with identical 599.
Cavite had a surprising scratch game of 235 to lead Fed Extreme to a first game 1222-1087 victory over Micah’s Pride wherein Oca Evangelista, team captain Carlos Bustinera and Bobby provided needed help at 218, 198 and 196.
When Cavite slowed in game 2, Cesar Monares took the helm at 219 and with 216 and 214 push from Bustinera and Jowet Carreon Fed Extreme defeated Micah’s Pride once more at 1204-1081.
With Cavite regaining production and Monares still at the helm, Fed Extreme was set for the kill but Bernabe took the rudder of Micah’s Pride boat and guided teammates with 226. Melvin Lising, Ellen Bernabe, Ruel Santoc, Ronnie de Castro and team captain Ester Santoc all responded to the Bernabe initiative to help Micah score a last-game victory of 1193-1080. Cavite shot a series with handicap of 657 on games 262, 189 and 206. Bernabe finished at 593.
In other matches, Royal Strikers, Ball Care and Pin Rockers respectively upset D’ Mountaineers, Shawly Bowlers and Fire Fox at 11-9, Petromin Express routed X-Alley at 18-2 and defending champion Pin Slasher gained 20 points as the unmatched team in action.
